Privacy Policy
At ChordScanner, protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your data is our highest priority. This Privacy Policy outlines our commitment to maintaining your privacy by ensuring that no data is stored on any external servers or sold to third parties. All data processing occurs locally on your device, giving you full control over your personal information.
1. Overview
ChordScanner is designed to provide advanced chord recognition through cutting-edge image processing technology. We believe that trust is built on transparency and accountability. Therefore, we have developed our application with robust privacy measures to ensure that your data remains secure and private.
2. Data Collection and Processing
Our application is built to operate entirely on your device. This means:
- Local Data Processing: All image analysis and data processing are performed locally, ensuring that no personal data is transmitted to external servers.
- No Third-Party Data Storage: We do not collect or store any data on our servers, and no personal information is shared with third parties.
- User Control: You have complete control over your data. All processing is executed in real-time on your device, and no personal information is archived or remotely stored.
3. Data Security
We take extensive measures to protect your data from unauthorized access or breaches. Our application employs state-of-the-art security protocols, and because all data remains on your device, the risk of remote intrusion is significantly minimized.
4. Commitment to Privacy
At ChordScanner, we are dedicated to ensuring that your experience is not only efficient and user-friendly but also secure. We have designed our application to be inherently privacy-centric by eliminating the need for cloud-based data storage. This commitment ensures that your data remains yours, with no exposure to external threats.
5. No Data Sharing or Selling
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties. Your trust is paramount, and we ensure that the operational integrity of ChordScanner is maintained by strictly adhering to our data privacy policies.
6. Intellectual Property and User-Created Content
ChordScanner does not transmit your chord progressions or creative ideas to any external server. All chord progressions, musical ideas, and creative configurations you create within the app remain solely on your device and are your exclusive intellectual property.
The intellectual property of these chord progressions is entirely owned by you, the user. ChordScanner is not interested in, nor does it plan to use or claim any rights over the chord progressions and creative ideas that you develop. We expressly disclaim any possibility of taking any rights over content created within our application.
You are free to use your creations in any way you see fit—whether sharing on social media, recording videos, audios, studying, integrating them into a digital audio workstation (DAW), or any other music production software. No license or usage rights are granted to ChordScanner over your original content.
7. Local Data Storage
ChordScanner does not utilize cookies. The application solely stores your chord progressions and music theory-related metadata locally on your device. This information is exclusively used to enhance your experience within the application's features and functionalities, without transmission to external servers. Such stored data is limited to non-sensitive musical information directly related to the application's educational and musical production purposes.
8. Accessibility for All Ages
ChordScanner is designed as a universal music theory and education tool accessible to users of all ages. The application does not collect or process age-specific information, nor does it contain content that would necessitate age restrictions. As a purely educational and musical production tool, ChordScanner is appropriate for users of any age demographic.
9. Compliance with International Regulations
ChordScanner operates in full compliance with international data protection regulations, including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). The application's design philosophy of local-only data processing and zero data collection inherently satisfies the stringent requirements of these regulations by:
- GDPR Compliance: The application does not process or store personal data as defined under Article 4 of the GDPR, thus eliminating requirements for data subject consent, data transfer mechanisms, or the establishment of a legal basis for processing.
- CCPA Compliance: The application does not collect or sell personal information as defined under Section 1798.140 of the CCPA, thus exempting the application from requirements related to disclosure, opt-out rights, and data subject access requests.
10. Data Deletion Procedures
Users may permanently delete all application-related data by uninstalling the application from their device. This action will effectively remove all locally stored chord progressions and music theory metadata associated with the user's activities within the application. No residual data persists following application removal, ensuring complete data elimination at the user's discretion.
11. Application Permissions
ChordScanner requires the following device permissions for its core functionality:
- Camera Access: Required for the chord recognition scanning feature to capture and analyze musical notation.
- Background Music Processing: Necessary for audio playback and analysis of musical elements.
- Background Image Processing: Essential for the artificial intelligence components to analyze and interpret musical notation effectively.
These permissions are strictly limited to facilitating the application's core functionality and do not enable the collection or transmission of personal or sensitive information.
12. Data Retention Policy
Non-sensitive musical data generated through user interaction with the application is retained locally on the user's device for the duration of the application's installation. This retention is necessary for the application's functionality and does not pose privacy concerns as it pertains exclusively to non-personal, musical content. Users utilizing Apple login functionality may terminate their session through the application's logout feature, which will clear all session-related data.
13. Security Breach Notification Protocol
In the unlikely event of a security vulnerability or breach, ChordScanner will promptly notify users via email communication. Despite the minimal risk due to the absence of stored sensitive or personal information, ChordScanner implements security standards in accordance with the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) guidelines and other industry-standard security protocols to ensure maximum protection of user data.
14. Legal Jurisdiction
ChordScanner operates under general international laws applicable to mobile applications, with trademark registration established in Argentina. In the unlikely event of legal disputes:
- The application's content and functionality fall under Argentine legal jurisdiction.
- Cross-jurisdictional disputes may be addressed under the legal framework of the claimant's jurisdiction, particularly in cases involving United States claimants.
It should be noted that the application's nature as a musical notation scanner and educational tool precludes copyright infringement concerns, as it does not incorporate or utilize any copyrighted musical or artistic materials. The application solely facilitates the creation of original musical content and provides educational resources related to music theory.
